Lakes Regional Healthcare will be hosting a “Hold it for the Holidays” 5K fun run/walk and personal weight challenge to encourage participants to hold their weight steady during the upcoming holiday season. You can run/walk the 5K only, participate in the personal weight challenge, or both. 5K information and registration is available on this web site, but if interested in the personal weight challenge, please contact Beth Samuelson at Lakes Regional Healthcare at 712-336-8785.
All pre-registered runners for the 5K can pick up race packets, tee shirt and water bottle at Lakes Regional Healthcare’s Patient Registration Desk in Spirit Lake on Friday (November 20) between 3:00 and 8:00 pm. Race day registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7:45 am at the south entrance of Lakes Regional Healthcare. Late registrants are not guaranteed shirt/sizes.
The personal weight challenge portion of the Hold it for the Holidays event consists of an initial weigh-in between November 18 at 8:30 am until November 23 at 5:00 pm. Participants receive weekly email newsletters that have motivational articles, healthy recipe conversions for holiday/winter meals, exercise tips, area restaurant reviews and reviews of healthy meal options at area restaurants, and tips to prevent weight gain. Participants will also receive discount coupons at area restaurants reviewed in the newsletter and at area fitness clubs, an eco-friendly bag, and water bottle. A final weigh-in will occur between 8:30 am on January 4 through 4:00 pm on January 7. Those that lose or maintain their weight will get $10 back from their initial $15 participation fee, and may have the option of donating it to Upper Des Moines.
